Recognising Information Technology (IT) as an important vehicle in the development of the country, the government has resolved to make India a global IT superpower and a frontrunner in the age of Information Revolution. The impressive growth achieved  since mid 80’s in the area of IT is still a small proportion of the potential yet to be achieved. IT is considered as the agent for transformation of every facet of human life, which will bring about a knowledge-based society in the future.

Gujarat is the land of enterprise, of spirit of cooperation, of pragmatism, and practical wisdom. Gujarat has the best infrastructure facility and has the longest OFC network in the country. To achieve an immense growth in IT sector it is important to encourage the starting and growth of companies. Business Enterprise Development is a dynamic process of nurturing young firms, helping them to survive and grow during the start-up period, when they are vulnerable.

Hence, foreseeing the tremendous business opportunities for young and educated people, ICECD initiated the “Entrepreneurship Development Programme for IT Entrepreneurs.” These programmes sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Board, Ministry of Science and Technology offered training to the potential entrepreneurs with IT background for venturing systematically in IT segments.
