Most of the women elected in Local Governance at the village level are not educated, thereby lacking exposure or specific leadership skills. ICECD works to build leadership and vision amongst these women leaders for effective functioning through :
Advocacy and awareness building for women rights and opportunities
Creating awareness about roles and responsibilities of elected women in local self government
Creating counseling cell to support women leaders
Education and capacity upgradation of village heads/
“women sarpanch” towards need-based socio-economic empowerment of villages
Building of specific skills of women sarpanch to discharge their duties effectively.
More than 230 women political leaders(Sarpanchs and Panchayat leaders) have been trained by ICECD in various districts of Gujarat.
