ICECD COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CENTRES(CDC)

the target is Rural Women as "Tools for Sustainable Socio-economic Empowerment":

The aim is to create institutional development through people's organization, (that is the -SHG or the SELF HELP GROUPS) by the creation of an infrastructure for economic, health, environmental and educational activities.

The community-based organizations increase the outreach, efficiency and effectiveness in terms of inculcating development within the community and village as a whole with a high degree of belongingness and involvement of each and every SHG member towards sustainable development.

There is autonomy and a sense of responsibility of people and community on a long term basis.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE CDC PROJECT

The focus is on SHGs of women. The initiation of development activities has given them new alternatives of income and social security by building their own organizations through the capacity building training programmes.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Development of Community Based Organizations (CBOs)

On their own, poor illiterate women struggle to make themselves heard, but group formation gives them the strength to voice their opinions and become confident individuals.

Creation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) has been one of the best institutions in bringing groups/community cohesion, economic freedom cum poverty alleviation, to the under-privileged masses of the society, especially women.

ICECD has successfully created an innovative model of the Community Based organisations (CBOs). The three CBOs are, SHG, the Area Development Office (ADO), and the Community Development Office (CDO). They aim at a sustainable social and economic empowerment .Self Help Group constitute the prime component in this model.

For monitoring the activities and providing the needed support and capacity building, there is a final standing committee, which is represented by members of ICECD, Panchayat, Govt. department etc.

Impact

The Community Based Organization increases outreach, efficiency and effectiveness in terms of inculcating socio-economic development within the community and village as a whole with a high degree of belongingness and involvement of each SHG member towards a sustainable development.

Objective

The model aims at creating a self-sustainable and self-managed community based organisation, which would strengthen the social and economic status of its members and the community.
